After Arrow of Light
The trail keeps going: Troop 3054
When Cub Scouts finish Arrow of Light, they cross over to Scouts BSA, Scouting America's program for ages 11 to 17. Troop 3054 meets in the same school on the same night.
The crossover
Same trails, brighter futures
At the Blue & Gold Banquet in March, our Arrow of Light Scouts cross a bridge into Scouts BSA. It's one of the biggest nights of the pack year.
Arrow of Light Scouts can join any troop. Troop 3054 meets at Jefferson Elementary on Monday nights at 6:15 PM, the same night as the pack, so it's an easy one to visit.
Pack and troop
How a troop is different
Cub Scouts is a family program run by adults. Scouts BSA hands the program to the Scouts themselves. Here's how that changes things.
| Topic | Pack 3054 | Troop 3054 |
|---|---|---|
| Ages | Kindergarten through 5th grade | 11 to 17, or 10 and finished 5th grade or earned Arrow of Light |
| Who leads | Adult den leaders and the Cubmaster | The Scouts plan the trips and run the meetings, with adults there to guide and keep it safe |
| Small groups | Dens, by grade | Patrols, small teams of Scouts |
| Families | Families take part, and Lions and Tigers bring an adult partner | Scouts do more on their own, and parents are welcome to volunteer |
| Advancement | A new rank each grade, from Lion to Arrow of Light | Ranks from Scout to Eagle, plus merit badges |
| Uniform | Lion T-shirt, blue shirt for Tiger to Webelos, tan for Arrow of Light | Tan shirt |
| Meetings | Den meetings and about one pack meeting a month, Mondays at 6:15 PM | Mondays at 6:15 PM |

About Troop 3054
Rotterdam's troop since 1941
Troop 3054 is chartered by the Jefferson Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, the same as our pack. Boys and girls are both welcome. On its own website it goes by Troop 54.
Older Scouts teach younger ones
At the council's Harvest Festival in October 2026, Troop 3054 Scouts taught at almost every station, so Cubs got to learn from the kids they'll be in a few years.
No Cub Scout experience needed
You don't have to have been a Cub Scout to join a troop. Kids can jump in at any age from 11 to 17 and start their own trail to Eagle.
One calendar for both
If you have Scouts in both, turn on “Show Troop 3054 events” on our calendar to see the troop's dates next to the pack's.
Ages 11 to 17
Everything about the troop lives at troop3054.org
Meetings, campouts, how to join and who to talk to. The troop runs its own website and calendar.
