Join Pack 3054

Joining takes three steps

Cub Scouts is for boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade, and new Cubs can join any time of year. Here's how it works.

Three steps to join

  1. Come to a meeting

Bring your kid to a Monday meeting at 6:15 PM in the Jefferson Elementary cafeteria. There's nothing to sign up for first, and no uniform needed. See what Cub Scouts is like, then decide.

    Planning your visit
  2. Apply online

When you're ready, fill out Scouting America's online application for Pack 3054. It comes straight to our pack.

    Start your application
  3. Start the first adventure

Your Scout joins the den for their grade and starts on Bobcat, the first adventure at every rank. Ask your den leader, or any pack leader on a Monday night, about the handbook and uniform when you're ready.

  • Kindergarten or 1st grade?Come on a den meeting marked “Lions & Tigers” and plan to stay. Lions and Tigers do everything with an adult partner, so you'll see it firsthand.

What it costs

No Cub is turned away because of cost

Every Scout pays a yearly Scouting America registration when they apply online, and the pack has dues too. Uniforms, handbooks and campouts are extra.

Ask us for this year's numbers and we'll walk you through them. If cost is a worry, just tell us.

Where the costs come from

  • Registration. Paid to Scouting America once a year, when you apply online.
  • Pack dues. Set each year by the pack committee.
  • Uniform and handbook. From a Scout Shop or scoutshop.org. Ask a leader before you buy.
  • Campouts and some outings. These can have their own cost.

Questions parents ask

Good questions

Who can join?

Boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade. Pack 3054 is a family pack, so brothers and sisters can be in the same pack.

My child is in 4th or 5th grade. Is it too late?

Not at all. It's never too late to start. A 5th grader who joins in the fall can still earn Arrow of Light and cross over to a Scouts BSA troop with new friends in the spring.

Do I need to stay at meetings?

Lions and Tigers need their adult partner with them at every meeting and outing. For the older dens, you're always welcome to stay and help.

Does my child need a uniform right away?

Not for a visit. Once you've joined, ask a leader what your Scout's rank wears before you buy anything. Our families page has the basics for each rank.

What does it cost?

A yearly Scouting America registration and pack dues, plus a uniform and handbook. Ask us for this year's amounts. No Cub is turned away because of cost.

Can parents help out?

Yes, please. Den leaders are volunteers, usually parents, and the pack runs on families pitching in. You don't need any Scouting experience, and training is free and online. Ways to help
